We source thinning materials of exceptional quality locally from the Black Forest, Palatinate Forest, Rhine Valley, Alsace and the Vosges. Once delivered, a 3D measuring system measures the length, diameter and shape of the trunks. They are then sorted and the batches selected and processed depending on the cut required. Pre-cutting involves clamping the trunk and removing side branches.
The 3D measurement allows the highest value cutting option to be determined from the measured sawn timber dimensions - the focus is always on optimum use of volume with maximum product quality.
The main product is refined in the post-cut – the bark chipped – and the heart wood sawn to the required dimensions on the 17-axle saw line. A mitre saw accurately cuts the sized sawn timber to the desired length. The result is a perfectly sized pallet board.
Kellerholz processes natural raw materials with maximum precision. Over 70 saw blades are replaced every day and ground and sharpened in our own grinding workshop.
